Meeting The Mayor [July 12]

12 de Julio

Con el final en vista la mañana de hoy fue bastante típico, desayuno seguido por las lecciones de la mañana. Pero hoy no iba ser un día típico porque por la tarde teníamos una sorpresa inesperada. El alcalde de Dorado nos ofreció una visita a su oficina y a una gira por su personal para explorar y aprender sobre la historia de la ciudad. Con toda la hospitalidad que Dorado nos había ofrecido, esto era la guinda del pastel. Visitamos museos históricos, una iglesia bella y recibimos información vieja y nueva sobre eventos actuales. ¡No podríamos estar más agradecidos! ¡Muchas gracias!

July 12^th

With the end nearly in site today’s morning was our typical breakfast followed by morning courses. The afternoon however was where we had quite the special surprise. The mayor of Dorado had offered us a visit to his office and a personal tour by his staff to explore and learn about the history of the city. With all the hospitality that Dorado had already offered us, this was the cherry on top. We visited historical museums, a beautiful church and received insightful lessons to old and current events. We really could not be more grateful! Thank you so much!

Canoeing to Plaza Las Americas [July 9]

Al final de otra semana nos levantamos a la hora típica de los Domingos 9AM para estar suficientemente descansados para la actividad de piragüismo. Fuimos a los arrecifes de coral lejanos de la playa con la esperanza de ver animales marinos como tortugas y manatíes. Tristemente no vimos ningunos pero eso no impidió la diversión que tuvimos. Por la tarde los planes no eran al aire libre pero fueron igual de fatigoso, Plaza Las Américas. Pasamos la tarde entera comprando antes de regresar a Dorado, comer y acostarnos.

July 9^th

On the precipice of a new week we woke up at our typical Sunday morning time of 9AM to have us well rested for upcoming canoeing activities. We went to the far out coral reefs of the beach in the hopes of seeing some sea turtles or manatees. Alas, there were none, but that did not stop us from having a good time. The afternoon plans were far less outdoorsy but equally as tiring, the largest mall of the Caribbean: Plaza Las Americas. We spent the whole afternoon shopping before returning to Dorado, eating and hitting the hay.
